The USDF L Education Program C Session covers equitation, rider biomechanics and the basics.
OVERVIEW OF COLLECTIVE MARKS The Collective Marks are the frame around the picture of the test. They should reflect the body of the test. The role of the judge is… •
To place the competitors in an order according to classical training principles (Correct training does not include fear or force)
To help riders and trainers by commenting on the marks given with words which promote the correct development of the horse
Assess basics in every movement using basics as foundation for Collective Marks
To enhance the quality of dressage riding and training
To uphold the standards of dressage
The basic principles must always prevail, and these are to fulfill the requirements of the Pyramid of Training. This session we will cover:
Components of each Collective Mark
How to arrive at a score and how to make a helpful comment
Formulating “Further Remarks” that will summarize the important aspects of the test in a way that will be helpful to the rider
The biomechanics of the rider to help arrive at scores and comments for the Rider Scores in the Collective Marks
The Collective Marks should be a reflection of the entire test and a summary of the performance of horse and rider. The average of all collective marks should be in the same range as the average of all marks for the execution of the movements of test.
We also will touch on freestyle scoring!
